Fennr Lane : Pour plusieurs raisons.

Il s’appellera Bended Lines and Lost Reflexions.

In English
LFDM : Why did you choose a one man band instead of recruiting other musicians
Fennr Lane : Couple of reasons I guess. First of all, it is THE best way of getting the music that is buzzing around in your brain down and out there, just the way you want it to be. It is absolute freedom and absolute control. No restrictions.
Second of all, time. As long as you don’t have a record label sugaring you up, or a brigade of fans supporting your every move and buying your music, you suddenly have other responsibilities in life to make ends meet and the music happen. So, you do your music and record your stuff when there is time to do just that. Being only dependent on your own schedule, and not 3-4 other dudes and their busy life’s as well – it kind of gives you more time to do your thing somehow. I guess that is a scenario most musicians trying to make it these days can recognize.
Also, the whole Fennr Lane project was not intentional as first, as I was just writing, playing and recording demos for my own amusement. When I understood that people really took a keen ear to it and spurred me to do something about it, it kind of became a serious aspect of life. (No, it was’t my mother…) My daily pivot point kind of changed for me from there on.

LFDM : As a one man band project : what is easier than a regular band and what is more difficult ?
Fennr Lane : Doing all instruments and everything by your own hand have some benefits of course. Obviously, you have all the creative freedom in the world and the ideas you have turns out just the way you intended it to be. You are always coming from the same direction for the rhythm and lead sections, so there are no bitching, arguments or throwing of expensive equipment over how a song should be or sound like. That kind of environment can sometimes be counterproductive, especially when bad ideas get foothold for all the wrong reasons.
That said, those very same moments and creating music with others, can be a wonderful thing and unique synergy in itself, which again can lead to into really, really great songs…and you obviously loose out on the social element of the whole music creating experience.
Live stuff gets a bit tricky also and you have to get help from some friends now and then to make these things happen. Gelling together people to perform songs, that normally don’t play together, or even the same kind of music, introduces other interesting challenges to put it that way. That is always a bit tricky, so gigging is a rarity these days I am afraid.

LFDM : You choose to publish singles instead of an EP or an Album : why ? And do you think the album format is non relevant in our digital era ?
Fennir Lane : Not at all. I am in many senses a traditionalist when it comes to music, and for me, the album will always be the major milestones and the big defining moments for any bands or artists. It kind gives a song purpose and identity when it forms part of an album. So, there HAS to be an album in the end of things.
As I have just started out, getting my music recorded and out there, and I do not have too much tracking in terms of people that know about Fennr Lane, or many true fans following me. As such, it makes little sense to spill all my beans, time and money to complete an album to be released into that kind of limbo. As such, I have decided to just get some stuff out there to hopefully get some attention to it. The album will then come for sure. All the songs for the album are written and ready to go. The album will be titled Bended Lines and Lost Reflections.
