Merrill Garbus, la tête pensante et la voix envoûtante de Tune-Yards nous envoie encore une petite pépite groove nommé « Limelight » pour annoncer le nouvel album du duo, Better Dreaming.
« Limelight », un groove et un clapping »
« Limelight » c’est une invitation à la danse avec le art pop toujours bien ficelé de Tune-Yards. La voix pétillante de Merrill se mêle toujours aussi bien avec le groove des prods de Nate.Le titre est née de moments passés à danser en famille sur George Clinton, et on peut même entendre le fils du duo, âgé de trois ans, chanter sur le morceau.
À propos de cette nouvelle chanson, Garbus confie :
« Elle a failli ne pas figurer sur l’album, car elle me semblait trop banale, surtout face aux multiples génocides à travers le monde et à leur impact particulier sur les enfants (les gamins ne vont pas bien). Mais elle revenait sans cesse, parce que les gens réagissaient positivement à elle – en particulier notre propre enfant. Qui suis-je pour parler de liberté, de notre libération à tous ? Fannie Lou Hamer a dit : ‘Personne n’est libre tant que tout le monde ne l’est pas’, et c’est à la fois vulnérable et important pour moi de me voir comme faisant partie de ce ‘tout le monde’.”
C’est donc joyeux, et ça va te faire bouger les fesses tandis que le monde va à deux cent kilomètres heures sur l’autoroute de la défaite.
