Body Politics de The menstrual Cramps, un son punk et vindicatif
Fondée dans une chambre à Bristol en 2016, The Menstrual Cramps (Emilia Elfrida, Cooper Rose, Robyn Jenner et AJ Murdoch) n’a depuis pas de répit, pas de trêves. Elles dénoncent la condition des femmes, les injonctions et le reste à coup de riffs nous demandant gentiment de défoncer le patriarcat à coup de pelle.
Et c’est le cas avec le très mélodique punk, « Body Politics ». Les paroles de la chanson se plongent dans la nature restrictive des normes et des attentes de la société entourant l’identité de genre. Le refrain répété de « Body politics, Bollox to the normative, Gender is performative » balance un regard critique sur la manière dont le genre est construit. Ca s’écoute fort et le poing levé.
