COMBOBOX revient pour nous mettre une claque bien nette avec “The Sermon”, un titre taillé au scalpel qui confirme ce que tout le monde commence à comprendre : ces quatre-là ne savent faire qu’une seule chose, mais ils la font à 200%. Le groupe de Portland s’est inventé son propre terrain de jeu, le spankwave, un alt-punk diablement efficace qui sourit, mord et repart avant même que tu réalises ce qui vient de te frapper.

Mais petite présentation d’abord. Formé en 2022 autour de l’amitié solide entre Zach Kay (chant/guitare) et Ty Schreiber (guitare/chant), le groupe a vraiment trouvé son rythme à partir de 2023. Amy Katrina Bryan (batterie) et Kaleb Lee (basse) complètent le line-up qui, depuis, ne ralentit plus. Ils sont sortis leur premier EP, « Oh No ! » en juillet dernier et comme il faut battre le rock quand il est chaud, continue en balancer des singles comme le trop court mais addictif « The sermon ».
C’est absurde, c’est donc du spaknwave et vous allez adorer.
