Elbow brouille les cartes avec son single rock "Adrianna Again"

Elbow, les poètes mélancoliques de Manchester, n’en ont visiblement pas fini avec leurs coups de maître. Après avoir sorti AUDIO VERTIGO en mars, un album hypnotique qui continue de hanter nos playlists, les voilà de retour avec un single flambant neuf, « Adrianna Again ». Jusque-là, tout va bien. Mais, fidèle à leur art du contre-pied, Elbow a décidé de larguer ce morceau avec un clip qui joue la carte du grand n’importe quoi (ou du génie, au choix).

Le clip met en scène un groupe inconnu, Novacane, qui se fait passer pour eux et livre une performance totalement à contre-courant du style des maîtres. Pas de Guy Garvey à l’horizon, pas de ballades épiques : juste Novacane, ces jeunes loups de Manchester, qui prennent les commandes avec une désinvolture déconcertante. Alors, clin d’œil, troll ou simple envie de passer la main à la relève ? Difficile à dire, mais on ne peut s’empêcher d’admirer l’audace.

Et ce n’est pas tout : selon les rumeurs, ce single pourrait être le prélude à un nouvel EP prévu pour l’année prochaine, bien que rien n’ait encore été confirmé. Une chose est sûre, Elbow n’a pas fini de surprendre, et si leur musique est une montagne russe émotionnelle, leur stratégie visuelle est un véritable labyrinthe. On se perd, on adore, on en redemande.
