Le jeune groupe de post punk irlandais Petrel vient de partager Shame, un single qui ne devrait pas leur mettre la honte (j’adore l’humour). Le morceau balance entre la noirceur nerveuse du post-punk et l’élan plus mélodique de l’indie rock. Ça sonne comme une urgence et ça me rappelle parfois les premiers albums de Placebo, la voix sans doute et les guitares coupantes. Bref, j’aime bien.
Pas d’imitation, que du réel
Au lieu de vous faire un paragraphe avec des blagues pas droles sur le sens du morceau, je vaisl aisser le chanteur Gerry Sheil l’expliquer :
“Shame est une réflexion sur l’authenticité, un trou dans lequel on tombe souvent, dans la vie comme dans l’art. Il y a ce combat permanent pour éviter l’influence ou la stagnation, que ce soit dans la politique, les relations ou la musique. La chanson plonge dans cet argument intérieur pour tenter d’en sortir en comprenant mieux le monde et notre processus créatif.”
