Alabama Shake est revenu après 10 d’absence l’été dernier avec le single « Another Life ». Je pensais donc que le groupe allait enchainer un autre single, puis un autre puis sortir un nouvel album, comme avant en fait. Et bien non, puisque rien n’était sorti depuis.
Et voici « American Dream »
Le trio nous revient avec un nouveau son à se mettre dans les esgourdes. Mais on sort de la soul solaire de « sound and color », ici c’est un rock soul sombre. Le groupe nous emmène dans une ambiance poisseuse et noire. Le rêve américain n’est plus, ou il n’a jamais existé. Il a été sali, mais il reste un peu d’espoir. La voix de Brittany Howard y résonne clairement dans cette obscurité. Je ne m’attendais pas du tout à ça mais dans le contexte actuel, je trouve que ça fait particulièrement echo.
Alors à défaut d’avoir de l’espoir pour la suite, on va juste avoir l’espoir d’un nouvel album.
